Cheap Trick Rocks LA!

For the past six years, John Varvatos has hosted a fantastic fundraiser at their store in West Hollywood, California. The entire block in front of his store (on Melrose) goes on hold for 1 day to benefit The Stuart House, a division of the Santa Monica Rape Treatment Center that specializes in children’s rape treatment.

Sharon and I flew out from New York City to produce the music for this year’s event, which took place on Sunday, March 9th and drew the largest crowd yet — 2,200 people! Sharon has been booking music for this event for the past six years. Past performers have included Jackson Browne, Macy Gray, Gavin DeGraw, Citizen Cope and Chris Cornell. Supporters turned out not just for the great vibe, great cause and great food (IN-N-OUT burger was one of the sponsors), but also to catch a rockin’ performance by 80’s mega-band Cheap Trick!

The crowd went wild as the guys took the stage and the energy continued right on through the end of their show, when special guests Alice Cooper and Wayne Kramer (from MC5) jumped on stage to sing more songs.

The star-studded event was a huge success. Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber hosted. Also in attendance were committee members Casey Affleck, Brendan Fraser, and Justin Chambers while friends Jeremy Piven and Dylan McDermott came to enjoy the show.

Cheap Trick for John Varvatos

I love the new John Varvatos campaign with Cheap Trick.

It was shot by Danny Clinch on the Santa Monica Pier. Sharon was on location and said that everyone was so obsessed with the vintage bicycles that they were all riding them around… with many near miss crashes.

Kirsten’s Miu Miu Series

I’m usually a fan of seeing a whole series of photos from one campaign. It just illuminates what the brand was really going for. This series for Miu Miu (Spring/Summer 2008 campaign) appears in various Fashion magazines now. Photographed by Mert & Marcus, it was pretty much aspiring to inhabit the cabaret-trapeze-filled-moulin-rouge world.
