Manhattan-henge

(View from 66th and Broadway)
Twice a year Manhattan takes on the effect of a modern day Stonehenge (where large vertical rocks were found in in the Salisbury Plain of England, the sun rises in direct alignment at the summer solstice.) On Wednesday, May 28th the sunset will occur directly in line with the Manhattan city block grid - exactly 28.9 degrees from the true east-west. So the sunset will look amazing, something like this:

(Manhattan-henge view from 34th Street)
Every cross street will be illuminated for the last 15 minutes of daylight. For the best views check out 14th, 23rd, 34th, and 42nd streets, as they have little to no obstruction from the East River to the Hudson. Stand as far east as possible. And if you miss it tomorrow, there will be another Manhattan-henge occurring July 12th.

Anywhere I Lay My Head
May 15, 2008 on 10:15 am | In - Stacey/SW2, Music | Comments OffWhile it was a surprise to all when Scarlett Johannson announced she was adding ‘Recording Artist’ to her resume, I am pleased to report that she will not disappoint her fans! At a private recording session at SIRIUS Satellite Radio, I got to listen to her sing five songs off her upcoming album Anywhere I Lay My Head. The album features 10 covers of Tom Waits songs - all highlighting her deep and husky voice.
Her single, Falling Down, is a catchy tune with great percussion, and was a favorite of the select few people allowed to watch her performance. Her small audience was full of positive feedback, but it’s hard not to love her - she is so cool and down to earth!

The Left of Sessions: Scarlett Johannson will air Monday, May 19th at 8 PM on SIRIUS channel 26
Love Your Mother
April 24, 2008 on 1:00 pm | In - Stacey/SW2, Other-Designers | Comments OffOn Earth Day, Starworker Hali and I celebrated the planet and Fashion’s efforts to preserve and conserve. Loomstate, The Sundance Channel and Barneys New York played host, dishing out eco-friendly cocktails from Vodka 360 and offering discounts on Loomstate for Barneys Green clothing for simply dropping off old T’s to be “re-fashioned” into new limited edition versions for Holiday 2008.
Highlight of the evening was a performance by up-and-comer Kate Nash, who preformed 4 songs off her album Made of Bricks, in the intimate setting.
