This week our fabulous client, Thomas Wylde, hosts a studio sale at their downtown Los Angeles premises for their Fall/Winter collection for Cruise. Some lucky shopper snatched up their leather jackets today so don’t wait too long!

Thomas Wylde Studio Address:
255 S Santa Fe St, LA, 90012
The sale is on through Sunday, March 31, 2008

British model-turned-designer Paula Thomas is the creative force behind this chic rock’n'roll label. The collection has a juxtaposition of luxe chiffon printed fabrics mixed with buttery soft leathers. Throughout the collection are embellishments in studs, crystals, and punk spikes.

The Spring 2008 collection was inspired by Egyptian graphics (printed scarabs on silk) and other references like the Cleopatra leather studded sandal.

Thomas Wylde is forever rock’n'roll, and timelessly sophisticated. The brand attracts celebrity devotees such as Sienna Miller, Charlize Theron, and Leigh Lezark.

New concept store opening in Los Angeles
confed-bizcard-front
My good friend Ilaria Urbinati is opening a fabulous new concept store with her friend, actor Danny Masterson.

Ilaria was the former buyer of iconic Los Angeles stores Milk and Satine. She has also styled celebrities such as James McAvoy, Emile Hirsch, and Giovanni Ribisi, just to name a few. Danny is starring in the Jim Carrey movie, DJs, and has a radio show on Indie 103.1 with Brent Bolthouse.

The two are opening their new store, Confederacy, in East Hollywood (just west of Silverlake). The 5000 sq foot space will also include a centered courtyard cafe, mens/womens clothing, gift area, beauty, and book sections. There’s also “The Tea Room” which is a room designed for stylists and their clients set up for full fittings.

Some concept stuff: The dressing rooms are vintage wood telephone booths, complete with old candlestick phones that dial the front desk so you can ask for your size without ever having to leave your room! The staff uniforms will be one specially selected designer each season.

Labels sold: Proenza Schouler, Margiela, Alexander Wang, Alaia, Zac Posen, Rag & Bone, Jovovich-Hawk, Laura Urbinati (Ilaria’s aunt), Giulia Piersanti (Ilaria’s amazing designer sister, Sretsis, and Future Classics among several others.

What is so fantastic about this store is Ilaria and Danny’s focus on cool fashion-forward brands, their general retail concept, and a constant affinity to old school customer service. I wish them all the best in their new endeavor and am SO happy to see another venture here in LA that shows this city has a strong taste for fashion.

GOOD LUCK!

(A Luxury Bag Afternoon)

Yesterday, some fabulous shopaholics like Monique Lhuillier, Emily Deschanel, Kerry Washington, Susan Campos, Maria Bell, Jennifer Smith Hale of C Magazine, and Liane Weintraub stopped by the P.S. Arts bag lunch in Bel Air to help raise over $200,000 for this amazing charity. Starworks’ Catherine, Heather, and Allison were also in attendance. P.S. Arts is an organization dedicated to restoring arts education in the public school system.

“Somehow it feels better buying expensive handbags when you’re making
out the cheque to P.S. Arts” — Kristen Davis

“People think the arts are expendable. I was a really artsy, nerdy kid.
I went through 10 schools in 11 years and art was my refuge” — Rose McGowan

The deals were so good that Allison left with a gorgeous Stuart Weitzman shopper, and Catherine got herself a chic Zac Posen bag.

Fun and philanthropy - how can you go wrong?

Refined street art by Eric Bailey

Los Angeles artist Eric Bailey came to downtown LA a couple of years ago from San Francisco. Although San Francisco is what truly inspires him, Los Angeles has given him the platform to grow on an international level. Eric is known for his refined “street” technique and subject matter. Basically, give the graffiti artist a paint and canvas and some brilliant talent, and this is what you get.

It is not just his paintings that have given Eric a name in the industry, but his commercial work has brought his talents to different genres of visual media. He has collaborated with Y3, Adidas, Nike, Converse, and is working on limited edition graphics for Fendi.

Europeans like it High

March 2, 2008 on 2:17 pm | In Fashion Week, - Adam | Comments Off

As the European fashion week finally comes to a close, I finally have a chance to look at all of the collections from the comfort of my laptop. As I was perusing the shows, I noticed that a majority of American designers showed their collections with really chic, low- heeled, understated shoes. As gorgeous as this was, it was completely juxtaposed to the shoes shown in Paris and Milan. The shoes are over the top, high to the sky, in some cases almost unwearable, and without a doubt — fabulous.

Here is a selection of my favorite sky high shoes from the catwalks of Paris and Milan:
Stellavalliburberry
Stella McCartney, Giambattista Valli, Burberry
D2VersaceYSL
D Squared, Versace, Yves Saint Laurent
