Daniel Peddle is a bit of a renaissance man. Currently, he’s a top casting director and scout (scooping and casting cuties like Donald Cummings of the band, Virgins). As the founder of Daniel Peddle Casting, Daniel specializes in casting models for fashion with a global clientele.
Today, however, we’re writing about Daniel’s art. Tomorrow is the grand opening to introduce a new body of work from one of the nicest people in the industry.
If you don’t know Daniel’s alter-ego life as an artist, here’s a little background. Daniel has released credible works of art in the mediums of painting, photography, and film. Doubleday published his wordless book on children illustrations entitled Snowday. As a filmmaker, his debut film, The Aggressives, explores gender identity in the modern world. The film extensively traveled film festivals around the world. Powerhouse Books published Peddle’s written exposé on the Aggressives subculture in the book Transculturalism in 2005.

For this particular body of work to be introduced tomorrow in the lower east side, Daniel delves into another subculture that only fashionista’s tread… the jungle called “Backstage”. Peddle’s paintings present the model as “the sacrificial lamb”. Hair and make-up teams vaporize into ethereal entities (possibly demons) who bestow their craft onto these guinea pigs thereby releasing them into the mouth of a backstage door, a wormhole to the public runway — the “proverbial altar”.
