Yet another Starworks casting by Greg Krelenstein. Photographed by Mark Abrahams. I’m a fan of this portfolio… beautifully shot and a great collection of artists.

History of the Internet

History of the Internet from PICOL on Vimeo.

I will venture to say this video counts as one of my “Graphic of the Day” entries. On top of that, it’s an informative view of the history of Internet. I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of this story because frankly, it’s so insane how it all came together. What was once considered a solution to communicate during the Cold War, has slowly become the glue that keeps all our cultures connected together.

Watch and enjoy… and give thanks to the forefathers that protected this new invention out of the gates (Read VF’s How The Web Was Won here)

Together at the Inauguration
Written by Joy Bryant

Boy, was it cold in DC on January 20. As Nicola Vassell and I stood freezing amongst the sea of thousands that turned out for the inauguration, I wondered if this was a mistake. Should we just break out now and head back home to watch in warm and comfort on the couch in front of the huge flat screen. I mean, we got there so early, there was plenty of time to bounce and catch him on TV. Why didn’t I dress better? Why didn’t I use my celebrity hook up to get better tix? Why didn’t I bring a blanket? Why am I here freezing my ass off? Why why why?!?! It all ran through my mind during the 4-hour wait for President Obama to appear….. (more)

Joy is also a regular blogger for Starworks as she sits on the front lines of Fashion Week for us. Expect to see more of her coverage here next Fashion week Feb 13-20, 2009.

expletive2.jpg

Today’s graphic of the day is designed by the Design Director at W Magazine, Edward Leida (whom we’ve featured before). This particular graphic was created for a story on the New York Times website on profanities. It just caught my eye, that’s all.

Read the actual article at “Bleeping Expletive” on NYT.

Being the furious creative factory that Eddie is, you can see his other works on his personal website at EdwardLeidaDesign.com.
