Well, the game has officially launched! Starworks pulled off an amazing game launch benefiting The Art of Elysium at The Edison Ballroom in NYC on Sunday night. I was lucky enough to DJ the Red-Tie event and help offer musical direction. The theme for the NY event was 1930’s New York, the Golden Age of Jazz, black tie but with that twist. Think songs like “I’ll Build A Stairway to Paradise” sung by Rufus Wainwright (son of Loudon Wainwright) which seems appropriate since it was a little old-school-meets-a-little-new-school. Toss in some other vocalists backed by big bands — Nina Simone to Marilyn Monroe to Beny More — and jazz legends Cab Calloway, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington.

The guests were all dolled up in 30′s Luxury. Harper’s Bazaar Glenda Bailey was hosting a table while focusing on her domino game tapping the table to big band tunes. In between DJ sets, we had a live band called Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks doing some live orchestral sets complete with a full horn section. The Nighthawks were a central band in Leonardo Dicaprio’s film The Aviator so just imagine being transported to that era. After several rounds of dominos, the reigning champions of the night were Salma Hayak and Jennifer Morrison.

The London launch was just as awesome and happened Friday night before. After this weekend, our whole staff slept a good day with a smile on our face. Mission accomplished. The game is a hit. Read more full coverage on Style.com or check out Harper’s Bazaar next month for an exclusive pictorial INSIDE the New York launch event. Read about our Hollywood Domino London Event here too. The game is now officially available by Hasbro so stock up for Christmas!

The final tournament will be held in Los Angeles early next year.
