Ludivine Sagnier is just an awesome french actress. See her in Swimming Pool if you haven’t already.

A Girl Cut in Two (Plot): A French TV weather girl is torn between a older man - a famous married author whom she loves but who won’t leave his wife - and the semi-deranged young heir to an industrial fortune who loves her. In the end she gets married to the younger man, but he starts to become obsessed with her love for his rival. The French master of suspense Claude Chabrol returns with the razor-sharp, darkly seductive film. Benoit Magimel and Francois Berleand also star.

Artist Alert
EBONY BONES3EBONY BONES4

This is one funky lady. People like Grace Jones, Timbaland, and Jarvis Cocker are all feelin’ her shows too. My friend Emma Reeves turned me onto her and says “she’s definitely got some Bow Wow Wow in her”. After hearing her music, I realize its because she has insane tribal drummers. Ebony’s party bangers also contain a gaggle of electro-influences too.

Check out her MySpace to listen to her stuff. She lists her home city as “The Neverland Ranch, Somewhere over the Rainbow, London and South East United Kingdom”.

I don’t use the words “Renaissance Man” much, but Gordy is one of ‘em.

Luxury Swedish Chef

This fashion spread kicks Kermie the Skater in the ass. I mean, look how effortlessly the Swede rocks his Versace. Our Greg helped work on other features in this issue with his razor-sharp booking skills (Read new actress Juno Temple inside).

Best part is the interview. The chef (who claims he’s an Aquarius) doesn’t speak English, so Kermie serves as the translator for this interview:

POP: Which goes in first, the milk or the tea?

Chef: Voo der pfoodle smooten, un den dee plosker spliten smozzle flink, fur shure.

Kermie: The tea, then the milk, then the pinky finger for stirring.

Pop: Do you approve of fast food?

Chef: Vot dee hooey!? Noodee frisken fur de loopdee versk, yoobethca!

Kermie: No. The Chef prefers food that stands still.

Gan in ‘89

August 26, 2008 on 4:20 pm | In Other-Editorials, - Jauretsi | Comments Off

I just bumped into some old Details issues (my ex-job) while cleaning my home. A lover of archives, on ocassion I flip through old issues of most New York Magazines to remind me that this city is a living organism, constantly morphing and introducing new faces. Years before Conde Nast bought Details, a woman named Ann Flanders began the magazine which was a “who’s who” of the local creative scene in NYC. I remember reading the early Ann Flanders issues and plotting my move to the big apple. This little find is 19 years old.

Stephen Gan — of Visionaire and V Magazine — is credited back then as a Fashion Editor and Photographer. The caption reads: “Stephen’s always amused by unexpected combinations”. Credits (his own clothes): The jacket is by Vivienne Westwood, sequinned jacket is vintage, leopard fake fur pants were a gift from Angel Estrada, and the shoes are by Patrick Cox. Stephen was given a Chinese silk theater apron circa 1930 from Sarajo to mix with his own clothes. Ahhhh, memory lane.
