Sexy Cloaks
July 29, 2008 on 2:28 pm | In Product, Other-Designers, - Jauretsi |Lindsey is a creative spirit based in New York. Aside from being a local cool girl hangin’ on her stoop downtown, she tends to gravitate towards creative projects such as modeling in our lovely short film, Phenomenology of Body (which you’ve read about here lots a few weeks ago) Directed by Daphne Guinness.
What you might not know about Lindsey is that she also designs her very own special line of cloaks. I sat down to ask the mystical lower east sider about her inspirations…
Jauretsi: So of all clothing items, why cloaks?
Lindsey Thornburg: The nature of a cloak is magical and mysterious. Having any reason to implement this into everyday life is pretty awesome. There’s also something very innately comforting about having a fashion forward security blanket joining you on all life’s journeys.
Can describe your choice of fabrics and why?
Finding fabric for my cloaks is like a poem, if I had a voice to sing; exploring eccentric fabrications is the melody… a timeless space where I get lost. WOW. With that being said, most my fabric inspiration is a regurgitation of a South American blanket.
What are the latest developments with the new line, and where is it selling now?
Starting in the fall, I will be selling to Barneys Co-op, Oak NYC, Plush Lush JAPAN and Some Odd Rubies. The latest developments with the line are keeping up with the attention, interest, and development of the line. AND keepin’ up with all that, I want to be cloaked happy warm.
Go to LindseyThornburg.com to purchase. Styles include druid hood, full length cloak, mid length cloak, mini cloak, drug rug dresses, and satchel.
