Starworks is happy to announce its first New Media casting. The folks over at T online (New York Times‘ very cool art-driven website) joined forces with a hip production company out of Brooklyn called Knowmore to create original short films during the Sundance Film Festival. Amongst all the chaotic press interviews, a team of maverick actors escaped the chaos, and drove to a snowy motel on the outskirts of town to execute these little vignettes that all weave and interlock into one cohesive story. It was a true exercise for all of us, and a reminder of why we’re all in this business — for the love of film.
The photo above was taken by one of the actresses in the Take series called Athena Currey, a sparkling up-and-comer we have our eye on here at Starworks.

Athena appears alongside Josh Hartnett in the indie film, August, directed by Austin Chick. Check out other sweet intimate photos from her world vertelife along with her creative collective of friends.
But back to the original New Media film series…this particular one is called Take: Viking Lodge, Utah. Each actor was assigned an improv by Director Brody Baker who created the concept of rallying talent at a film festival. Stay tuned for future Take episodes filmed at additional festivals. Did I mention Brody’s also working on a music doc that follows the legendary band Bad Brains?

These group of fine actors believed in the concept and showed us their improv chops. We had a great time working with all of them and invite you to see the Take Trailer which was just released online. Music is by Band of Horses. The first short film premieres this Monday, March 17th, with additional shorts being released once a day for 12 days (excluding weekends).
