New Designers to Watch
Here’s highlights from the Shipley & Hamos show who were the new fashion darlings last week. These 2 guys were previously co-founders of the clothing line Trovata, but they’ve broken off and developed their own strong vision. Considering they showed their clothes right in the middle of Superbowl, they graduated the day with winning points.
Earlier in the day, Anna Wintour swung through the studio to check out a private viewing. Then Kim Gordon (who’s a fan of the collection) passed through for a studio visit. At the actual presentation, Mandy Moore, Ryan Adams, and Justin Theroux came to see the goods. Can you say, “range”?
I asked Heidi Bivens for her opinion (she’s the cool New York stylist who was hired to sew up all the looks neatly that day). “I consider this Fall 08 show a teaser of what Jeff Halmos and Sam Shipley have up their sleeve,” she said. “They are definitely ones to watch.”
