JANE Mag reunion

Jeff Johnson (Jane’s ex-wiz music writer), Stephanie Trong, Carla Shackleford, Jane Pratt
There’s a beginning and end to everything. JANE was one of those comets that passed us by and left its mark. It was probably one of the coolest jobs I ever had. My boss, Jane Pratt, who created the little empire was also responsible for another addiction growing up, Sassy. It’s one of the reasons I moved to New York, to be around cool women mentors such as Jane and Gigi Guerra. Anyway, its all over now for whatever reason. The old-school media chicks (and guys) came together for a drink last night to shoot the breeze and catchup. We’ve all had several cat lives post-Jane, leading to my silly question…. which, of course, I asked myself too.
Whats the coolest thing you have done post-Jane?
“I made a movie, wrote a book, and finally took a real vacation!” — Jauretsi
“I finally got a new crown on my back tooth (and got over my fear of
the dentist)” — Gigi Guerra
“I discussed poundcake recipes with Gilbert Stork”– Claudine Ko
“I installed a steel roof on my shed. Its sexy” — Brant Louck
“I did a backflip and didn’t break my neck”– Kate (who wrote a documentary book on college cheerleading)
“Let me get back to you on that one” — Denise See
“I produced 2 humans at the same time” — Jennifer Miller (she means she had twins)
“I came to this party” — Jeff Johnson
“I went on four vacations” — Carla Shackleford
“A one-woman show finally”– Jessie Lepagand

I can sell it in 4 years!” — Nicole Saunders
“I went to the beach on a Tuesday” — Stephanie Trong
“I dumped that guy I was seeing” — unknown

watched The Life Aquatic too many times — Kenya Hunt

dating musicians and killed 3 houseplants. Life is good.” — Aliba
Solomon

Last night Evan Yurman hosted a beautiful dinner and party at the iconic Paramour Estate with an amazing performance by The Bravery. We had a great turnout all-in-all.

Clockwise from top left: Mary Kate Olsen and Evan Yurman, Joy Bryant (in Matthew Williamson) with Jaquetta Wheeler and Kate Sumner, The Bravery performing, Jeremy Piven with Perrey Reeves (in Max Azria)
Fun Fact: The Paramour Estate was the location for The Last Picture Show in 1971
My shirts + DSM + London
October 25, 2007 on 11:54 am | In Product, SW-Staff, Other-Designers, - Daphne | Comments OffI’ve been designing these shirts and now I’m selling them at Dover street market.
I LIVE in them!
David LaChapelle + Milan
October 25, 2007 on 11:44 am | In Art, - Daphne | Comments OffThis is the most inspired show in Milan at the moment.
And, at the Freize Art fair in London, David showed some of these images(the best exhibition at the fair!) They are at once haunting immediate and bring popular and classical culture together to reflect back at us an apocalyptic vision of the future by an extraordinary artist.
I really recommend seeing these.
Karl Lagerfeld documentary
October 25, 2007 on 10:20 am | In Film, - Jauretsi | Comments OffPlaying for a short time.

If you don’t know much about the man, the legend, the caricature — all you need to know is, he has ruled the House of Chanel for more than 2 decades! His brands have also included Karl Lagerfeld, Fendi, and Chloé. He also says things like “fashion is ephemeral, dangerous and unfair”. You gotta love him.
The doc plays at The Film Forum. Director Rodolphe Marconi came opening night last night to discuss the film. It plays only through Tuesday, November 6th. Just to add to the dramatic language, the Film Forum synopsis describes this peephole into Karls life as “a world of serious diamond-encrusted glamour in which beauty and imagination air-kiss money and power”. Hah. Expect several fashionistas at the cool little tiny arthouse theater this week.
